IDOLATRY......


Throughout the Holy Bible there is mention of the sin of idolatry. Most modern day Christians cease to realize that idolatry is a sin that is live and well in our generation. Idolatry defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary is 1: The worship of a physical object as a god. 2: Immoderate attachment or devotion to something.

Are Christians along with the heathen in idolatry in our generation? Of course, there is nothing new under the sun. Ecclesiastes 1:9. There is attachment to vain things, there is worship of celebrities and TV shows, favorite movies, favorite bands, favorite teams, favorite athletes and many Christians don’t even realize their love for that something/someone is love that is not projected towards God.

Love God with ALL of your heart… Matthew 22:37. 100%... Not 99.99%. How much love towards vain things are you giving to these things or heathen celebrities of the world as you worship these worldly things/people along with the heathen? American's idols. The world's idols. 

Exodus 20:3-6 ~ Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
Jonah 2:8 ~ They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.

1 Corinthians 6:9 ~ Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

1 Corinthians 10:14 ~ Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

Galatians 5:19-21 ~ Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
1 John 5:21 ~ Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

I believe that activities of the world are a distraction to the Faith. Amusement parks, concerts, sport events, etc. are not evil in of itself, but these things do not profit the Kingdom of God. If it is not profitable, then it is vain. 

1 Corinthians 10:23 ~ All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

Romans 13:14 ~ But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

I HONESTLY do not enjoy activities of the world... I rather be sharing the Gospel. I find worldly activities boring and my conscience left guilty because I realize the VANITY in such things. Anguish and urgency needs to be felt for lost souls... People on their way to Eternal Hell. As a Christian reading this... Do you feel any concern? Or are you heartless? Do you really love your neighbor? You've got to warn them that there's a hell and that without Lord Jesus Christ, they will end up in hell. As a Christian... Do you really believe what you think you believe? Because if you really believe you would have overwhelming urgency for the millions of people that don't believe in Lord Jesus Christ and are on their way to Hell. Even many who say they believe will go to Hell... 

Matthew 7:21 ~ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Because they did not warn their neighbor... Because they did not do God's Will. Is it in God's will to go waste hours at a sports event? 

Ezekiel 3:18 ~ When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

As Christians, we are to impact the world by our mere conduct... Going and riding a roller coaster takes away from the urgency of the Faith... Takes away the seriousness of Eternal Salvation... A Christian is to be crucified with Christ. Romans 6:1-6, Galatians 2:20-21. Physical necessities are not comparable to vain entertainment of the world. I am content with only what I need, not what my flesh (carnality) wants which is a distraction to the Faith. 

1 Timothy 6:8 ~ And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

I take joy in doing God's will... Striving to live as they did in the Book of Acts... I don't believe Apostle Paul wasted his time doing vain activities. He was too busy spreading the Gospel, providing for the community, feeding homeless, doing miracles, edifying, teaching, praying, studying, etc. etc. etc. He didn't do vain activities, he died daily. 1 Corinthians 15:31. Apostle Paul was a man of sorrow as David Wilkerson also described. Romans 9:2. The Christian community should have this same sorrow, which is a sorrow we rejoice in because we know we are sharing in the suffering of Christ. Being crucified with Christ. 1 Peter 4:13. 

We are commanded to love God with ALL our hearts... Not 99.99% of our hearts. 100% of our hearts and this is why we as Christians live a crucified life to show our love for Christ, that our hearts have no room for the love of the world and the things the world highly esteems. 

1 John 2:15-17 ~ Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Latest movies, amusement parks, sport events, etc. etc. etc. are highly esteemed among men in this world. A Christian is to not partake in the same activities that nonbelievers partake in. 

Luke 16:15 ~ And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

We don't have TIME to partake in VAIN WORLDLY ACTIVITIES that do not profit the community or ourselves or most importantly, the Kingdom of God. Time is such an important thing we shouldn't waste it, the Christian community needs this revelation, this urgency because someone is going to hell every second. This isn't a time to relax and enjoy earthly pleasures that profit nothing... There's God's work to be done. We all need to rest, recharge in prayer and sleep... Necessities... Going to an amusement park is not a necessity. It is a waste of my time and my money... My time will go towards things that profit the Kingdom of God. My money will go towards things that profit the Kingdom of God. My time and my money will go towards feeding my hungry neighbor. Even looking at this from a non-Christian perspective... There's so much help you could be giving to others in need, yet many sit on their butts watching TV or playing a video game. So much for humanism. 

I have too much of an urgency and a burden in my heart to help this dying world, the church lies in apostasy and the world in wickedness. I have no time to waste on vain worldly entertainment. These are distractions from God's Will which is a stumbling block to be an idolatry. Doing God's Will is my only true joy. Being an example to the world by standing out, being set apart, being separate from the world which shows the conduct a Christian is to have to carry our own cross. Show what work Christ has done in you... If you haven't changed from the way you used to be, you're not born again, a new creature in Christ. John 3:3, 2 Corinthians 5:17. 

2 Corinthians 6:17 ~ Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

Romans 12:1-2 ~ 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
