I come from a family that has hunted... Deer, elk and moose... Their heads on my uncle's wall. I now hate it. Hunting for meat is one thing, (if done humanely, I'm personally a Flexitarian as of now) but for the sake to just have a trophy... Is egotistical and disgusting. I understand wanting to hunt your own meat for Health purposes, since a lot of the Meat in the Grocery is GMO (Genetically Modified Organism), but that doesn't mean you go ahead and mount their head on your wall... It's disrespectful to the creature. How would you like your head on someone's wall? Do onto others as you want done onto you. And yes, Animals are others...
They feel, see, hear, smell and taste. Sentience. They have hearts, brains and emotions. Consciousness. They love and they have loyalty, they fear and they have sadness. It is ignorant and arrogant to think you are better than any living Creature.
Look at the article of the Baby Elephant That Cried 5 Hours After being Abused and Abandoned by His Mother.
Watch how happy your dog is after you come back from being away from him on a long vacation. They love you, they miss you. They were aware you were gone and it saddens them. We've pushed some species into extinction or close to it. How does that make these Creatures feel?
Let's go into Factory Farms...
If you think your meat is gathered from a spacious pasture farm with a big, beautiful red barn... You need a reality check. It's not like the Farms they show you in Preschool in your coloring book, it's a literal factory. These animals tied up and/or in cages. Unsanitary at that.
Chickens... Spend their entire lives in filthy sheds with tens of thousands of other birds, where intense crowding and confinement lead to outbreaks of disease. And they cut off a part of their beaks so they don't peck each other due to cramped environment and frustration. They are bred and drugged to grow so large so quickly that their legs and organs can't keep up, making heart attacks, organ failure, and crippling leg deformities common. Many become crippled under their own weight and eventually die because they can't reach the water nozzles. When they are only 6 or 7 weeks old, they are crammed into cages and trucked to slaughter. This isn't even the full extent of abuse they suffer.
Cows... In the U.S. more than 42 million cows suffer and die for the meat and dairy industries every year. When they are still very young, many cows are burned with hot irons (branded), their horns are gouged out or cut or burned off. Always without painkillers. Once they have grown large enough, they are sent to massive, filthy feedlots that are exposed to the elements, where they are to be fattened for slaughter. Cows on dairy farms are repeatedly impregnated and then traumatically separated from their newborn calves until finally their bodies wear out and they are sent to be killed. Mother cows can be heard frantically crying out for their calves for several days after they have been separated. Cattle are transported hundreds of miles in all weather extremes, typically without food or water, to the slaughterhouse. Many cows die on the way to slaughter, but those who survive are shot in the head, hung up by one leg, and taken onto the killing floor where their throats are cut and they are skinned and gutted. Some cows remain fully conscious throughout the entire process.
Pigs... In the U.S. spend their entire adult lives confined to cramped metal crates. They never feel the affectionate nuzzle of a mate, never roll in the mud gleefully or feel grass or sun. Instead, they are surrounded by cold metal bars and forced to lie on wet, feces-covered floors. When they are old enough to give birth, these sows are artificially impregnated and imprisoned for the entire length of their pregnancies in "gestation crates," cages that are just two feet wide and too small for them even to turn around or lie down comfortably. The pigs often develop bedsores from lack of movement. After giving birth, mother pigs are moved to "farrowing crates," enclosures similar to gestation crates, with only a tiny additional concrete area on which the piglets can nurse. They beat the mother to get her inside the crate because she doesn't want to go.
Let's not even get started about what happens to Bunnies that get your Makeup and Cosmetics tested on them. Think about what you buy, what your money is supporting. Do you consciously want to support cruelty? Don't be a hypocrite.
There is just blatant abuse... A dog getting his owner's anger taken out on him, or just stupid neglect. Then we euthanize a dog for biting someone... When the dog bites out of self-defense because he has developed a subconscious fear for humans, because the only human he has known has been his owner who beats, neglects and abuses.
Every day, animals in a Shelter are being put to death because they're unwanted. There's Puppy Mills. We make Dogs Fight, Roosters Fight, Beta Fish Fight, Spiders Fight, Turtles Fight... Why? For our own entertainment, for money. Notice... The most innocent creatures take the most abuse... Animals, Children Abused/Aborted, and our Lord Jesus Christ... Most innocent abused.
